Blink HQ 150 Home Charging Station
While we don't carry the ChargePoint Flex, it is one of the most popular charging stations that we install. Quick Note: *This charging station does come with a plug, however, to avoid nuisance tripping that comes with installing an outlet on a GFCI protected breaker we'll remove the plug to hardwired this unit so the plug configuration option you choose does not matter.*
Connection Point & Power Requirements
This charging station comes with a universal connection point (J1772) which works with all brands and models of electric vehicles and it's capable of being connected at any input amperage between 20 and 60 amps.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (to qualify your power provider must be Austin Energy) Austin Energy currently recognizes only two brands of charging stations as ones they are able to communicate with, this charging station is one of them which allows for a 50% rebate up to their maximum $1,200 for both the cost of the charging station and the installation.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
This unit comes with a 23 ft cord and a 3-Year warranty from the manufacturer. To get in touch with ChargePoint's troubleshooting team click here.
The ChargePoint Flex seems to be the best all-around unit with the universal connection, variable amperage option and qualifying for the highest rebate amount through Austin Energy although it does have a little bit shorter cord and warranty through the manufacturer.
Tesla Wall Connector
We are not currently carrying this wall connector but it can be purchased directly from Tesla.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
The Tesla Wall Connector will only directly connect to a Tesla. They have the ability to be connected at any input amperage between 20 and 60 amps. So this charging station is a great option for homes that might not have a full 60 amps available and may only have 30 or 40 amps available.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit does qualify for the Austin Energy rebate (to receive the rebate Austin Energy must be your power provider). Although, this wall connector is WiFi-enabled it's not enabled in a way that Austin Energy can communicate with the charging station so while they do include the unit in the Austin Energy Rebate Program they will only give you 50% of the installation cost up to $900 which includes both the cost of the unit and the installation.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
The Telsa Wall Connector comes with a 24 ft cord and a 4-year warranty from the manufacturer should anything go awry. To get in touch with Telsa's troubleshooting team click here. Telsa now offers replacement parts and should the unit need to be replaced Tesla will send the replacement parts directly to your door and they can be replaced without needing to get into the wiring of the unit so an electrician is not necessary.
ChargePoint Flex
We do not carry the Rivian Charging Stations.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
The Rivian charging station uses a universal connection, the J1772 which works for all electric vehicles. This charging station can be connected to any amperage between 15 amps and 60 amps.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (in order to qualify, Austin Energy must be your power provider). The rebate is for 50% of the installation cost plus the cost of the unit up to $900.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
The Rivian Charging Stations come with a 25' cord and a 5-Year warranty through the manufacturer. For help with troubleshooting your Rivian Charging Station click here.
We do not carry the Blink Home Charging Stations but have installed a number of them.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
This charging station also used the universal connection, a J1772. It should be connected to a 240-volt circuit at 40 amps (input breaker size) or 32 amps (output). This unit doesn't have the ability to be installed at a lower or higher amperage. Although 40 amps is certainly lower than some other brands are capable of, don't discount this one just yet. For most people, between the way that they drive and/or the distance they drive 40 amps is still a considerable amount of power able to give the car plenty of charge before overnight.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (to qualify Austin Energy must be your power provider). Austin Energy will give you 50% of the cost of the unit and the installation cost up to $900.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
The Blink HQ 150 comes with a 25' cord and a 1 Year warranty through the manufacturer. The biggest downfall to this unit is the troubleshooting help which seems to be relatively non-existent from the manufacturer. The user manual says to refer back to the reseller which for many is Amazon.
The convenience of being able to shop this product on Amazon is a big selling point for us since we know shipping will be fast and reliable, however, the manufacturer's warranty is the shortest warranty we've come across so far. Having the reseller provide troubleshooting help is a pretty big con that the good qualities of this unit make up for since they can be found in other units at a similar price point.
Choosing a charging station to fit your car and your needs can be pretty confusing. Here are the most common charging stations that we install and their biggest differences aside from cost.
We do not carry the ClipperCreek Charging Stations but have installed them so we're familiar with the process.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
All ClipperCreek charging stations use a universal connection, the J1772 which works for all electric vehicles. ClipperCreek makes plenty of plug-in options but for the sake of this conversation we'll only be talking about the hardwired options.
The HCS-40 and HCS-D40R require a 240-volt circuit at 40 amps (input or breaker size)/32 amps (output). The HCS-50 requires a 240-volt circuit at 50 amps (input or breaker size)/40 amps (output). The HCS-60 requires a 240-volt circuit at 60 amps (input or breaker size)/48 amps (output).
The HCS-80 requires a 240-volt circuit at 80 amps (input or breaker size)/64 amps (output). There are some older Tesla's and the new Ford F-150 Lightning will be able to charge at 80 amps, however, for the majority of the cars, an input of 50 amps or 60 amps is the most they will take. Also, a lot of homes are not going to have 80 amps available to charge a car so check with an electrician before jumping on this charging station just because it can take more power.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (in order to qualify, Austin Energy must be your power provider). The rebate is for 50% of the installation cost plus the cost of the unit up to $900.

These are the most common charging stations that we install and get questions about, as this list grows we'll add to it.
Tesla J1772 Wall Connector
We are not currently carrying this wall connector but it can be purchased directly from Tesla.

This Tesla Wall Connector is a universal connection port.

JuiceBox Charging Station
We don't carry the JuiceBox Charging Stations but they are very popular and have installed a number of them.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
The JuiceBox Charging Station comes with a universal J1772 so it's a great option for every electric vehicle. There are three different JuiceBox models and all of them are capable of being hardwired, for this discussion we're only talking about hardwiring them. The JuiceBox 32 should be connected to 240-volts at 40 amps (input or breaker size) or 32 amps (output). The JuiceBox 40 should be connected to 240-volts at 50 amps (input or breaker size) or 40 amps (output). The JuiceBox 48 should be connected to 240-volts at 60 amps (input or breaker size) or 48 amps (output).
Austin Energy Rebate
This charging station is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate, and is the other option that allows Austin Energy to communicate with the station so it's eligible for the maximum rebate of 50% of the cost of the unit and the cost of installation up to $1,200. To qualify, Austin Energy must be your power provider.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
All JuiceBox Charging Stations come with a 25 ft cord and a 3-Year warranty from the manufacturer. For help with troubleshooting your JuiceBox click here.
ClipperCreek Charging Station
We do not carry the Ford Connected Charging Station but they can be purchased directly through Ford. This charging station currently works with the Ford Mach-E.
Charging F-150 Lightning
Being in Texas we know we'll have a lot of questions about charging the F-150 Lighting so let's address a few of them now. There will be a new charging station coming out around the same time as Ford's all-electric truck called the Ford Charge Station Pro. The Ford Charge Station Pro will be able to be connected up to 100 amps (input or breaker size)/80 amps (output). The first generation of Tesla wall connectors were capable of being connected to the same power requirements so we're certainly familiar with the wiring. However, in our experience (Ford's installation guide for the Charge Station Pro mentions this as well) it's very rare to come across a home with 100 amps of power available, every home will need an upgraded meter and breaker panel to be able to handle this type of charging station which would run anywhere from $4,000-8,000 (every electrician is going to be a little different and each power provider has their own upgrade fees). It does look like the Charge Station Pro will be capable of charging at a lower amperage, a feature that the Ford Connect Charging Station doesn't currently have.
Charging Mustang Mach-E
Connection Point & Power Requirements
This unit takes a universal connection point, the J1772. Although this unit is branded by Ford it could be connected to another make or model of car. This unit should be installed on a 240-volt circuit at 60 amps (input or breaker size)/48 amps (output). Currently, this unit doesn't have the ability to be installed on a lower amperage. If the home does not have 60 amps available for a charger then the power to the home would need to be upgraded or a different charging station would be a better fit.
We would choose the latter to avoid the hefty upgrade cost but it depends on how often you need to charge and future plans for the home. If installing a car charger at a lower amperage will max out the home's available power and you're planning to install a pool needing a power upgrade anyway then it's a great time to get both things done at once.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (in order to qualify your power provided must be Austin Energy). The rebate is for 50% of the cost of the charging station and the cost of installation up to $900.
Cord Length, Warranty, & Troubleshooting
The unit comes with a 20 ft cable and has a 3-Year warranty from the manufacturer. For any issues with the charging station you can contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center: 1-800-392-FORD (3673).
Wallbox Charging Station
Electric Vehicle Charging Station Guide
We do not carry the Wallbox Pulsar Plus Charging Stations but have installed them so we're familiar with the process.
Connection Point & Power Requirements
All Wallbox charging stations use a universal connection, the J1772 which works for all electric vehicles. Wallbox does make a plug-in option but for the sake of this conversation, we'll only be talking about the hardwired options. The Wallbox Pulsar Plus is capable of being wired at any amperage between 20 amps and 60 amps.
Austin Energy Rebate
This unit is eligible for the Austin Energy Rebate (in order to qualify, Austin Energy must be your power provider). The rebate is for 50% of the installation cost plus the cost of the unit up to $900.
